Having problems
getting the idea with WebVideo Ripper? This step by step guide should
help you out.
If you have any problems not addressed here, see the Contact page
and send us an email, we'll be glad to help.
Getting Started Firstly
open the webpage that has the video you want to rip. Hit the pause
button as soon as possible (if there is one).
Once you can
see the video, open WebVideo Ripper, enter a name for your video
and hit the Next button. You you are asked to select a screen
area. Move the WebVideo Ripper window out of the way so it doesn't
obscure the video area. Now hit the Select Area button.
A blue box opens
up. What's this then? Well, you need to position this box so it
frames the area you want to record. Drag the box around the screen
by dragging on the coloured edges. When the box is roughly over
your video area, resize it by dragging the extreme borders of the
box. Make it fit nicely around your video.
If you can't
quite get it right, try using the Arrow Keys on the keyboard to
move the box. Also, you can hold down the CTRL key and use the Arrow
Keys to resize the box. This lets you precisely position the box.
Here's an example
of placing the blue box over a Vivo video area.
Notice that
in this example, we are choosing to cut the bottom of the video
off (so we don't record the pause/play buttons - you can record
them too if you like ;))
When you have
the box exactly over the video area, press the Return key on the
keyboard.
The Wizard automatically
goes to the next stage when you hit the Return key. Now you can
click on the Preview button to see if you managed to select
the correct screen area. If you didn't, hit the Back button
and try again. If you are happy with the previewed area, close the
Preview window and click on the Next button.
Now you are
at the "Recording Your Video" step. This is easy. Just
click on the Record button, then start the video playing.
There is no rush to start the video playing once you have clicked
on Record as WebVideo Ripper won't actually start recording
until the video starts playing.
As the video
plays, WebVideo Ripper will display its recording status. It tells
you how many frames it's recorded and how much memory this recording
is taking up. (Ensure you don't run out of harddisk space!).
When the video
stops playing (or when you get bored), click on the Stop Recording
button. WebVideo Ripper will automagically begin to encode your
recording as an AVI file, this may take a while if you recorded
a lot. A progress indicator will keep you informed of how far through
the encoding process WebVideo Ripper is.
Once the AVI
file has been encoded, you will be taken to the next step. There
are two options here, Preview and Save. Hit the Preview
button to watch a preview of your video. If you like it, hit
the Save button and save it somewhere.
If you don't
save your video, it will be deleted when you click the Finish
or Close buttons.
